The end of one of the most prolonged transfer sagas of all time saw Eden Hazard complete his transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid.
He was a fan of the Madrid outfit right from his young age when his idol Zinedine Zidane used to play for the club. He has expressed his opinions about moving to the club and realising his childhood dream many times over the past. He now realises it and has the opportunity to play under Zidane.
His contributions to Chelsea are humongous and has carried the team on his back for seven years. There are countless occasions in which he has saved and rescued the team from defeats and stalemates. His trickery deceives opponents and entertains viewers. He is a delight to watch and a beacon of hope.
He has had his fair share of bad times especially during Mourinho’s last season in charge, for his poor performances. But they have never overshadowed the good times. He has been an excellent player in terms of statistics and conduct.
In a world of Messi and Ronaldo, he has established himself as something else. He is not a goal machine. He sets up team-mates quite often. But most importantly, he is the special something you need to get past the finish line. He is the good fortune that Real need right now.
Chelsea undoubtedly would have offered him many more years of stay, but it is time for him to leave. He signed for the Champions league winning club, but turbulent years has never reproduced that miracle. A great player, whose career should not be diminished by not winning the champions league. He deserves the Ballon D’or more than anyone. He leaves for Madrid fresh of his best ever season for Chelsea and will surely win it in the near future.
He terrorises defences, launches attacks and scores beauties. He is a magician with the ball and will always be. Hazard has to be thanked for everything he has given.
He might play for Madrid now, but he was made at Chelsea. Once a blue, always a blue.
Loved by many. Hated by none. This is goodbye.
